A new report claims WWE NXT legend Tommaso Ciampa could soon be available to sign with rival wrestling promotions like AEW and TNA Wrestling.

For many years, Ciampa was a respected star on the independent wrestling scene. However, in 2015, he got the opportunity to become a household name when he signed a WWE contract. While it didn’t happen quickly, over the next half-decade, he evolved to become one of the most beloved and successful competitors in NXT history.

The former two-time NXT champ and one-time tag titlist made the jump to WWE in 2022 and eventually reunited with long-time friend Johnny Gargano on the main roster. While he had solid moments and won the tag titles with Gargano, his time on the main roster has been mostly underwhelming compared to his run in NXT.

It seems he may see it the same way and is preparing for his exit from the company. According to BodySlam.net, Tommaso Ciampa’s WWE contract is set to expire very soon, and there is no current plan for him to sign a new one. It may explain why Gargano was noticeably flying solo on this week’s edition of SmackDown.

Where Could Tommaso Ciampa End Up?

The report mentions that Ciampa could just be taking time away from the industry and could eventually return to WWE. However, at 40 years old, he still has some very good money-making years left on his body. That is why he is sure to draw interest from both AEW and TNA.

For many wrestling fans, AEW would be a good fit because of Ciampa’s prowess as a mat technician. He would fit in well with the company’s wrestling style and bring a strong veteran presence to the roster. There are quite a few matches he could have that would appeal to diehard wrestling fans.

However, considering his strong character work during his run in NXT, he would also make a lot of sense in TNA. A company that is a strong middle ground between WWE and AEW. The company also recently landed a major TV deal with AMC that begins next week. Ciampa would be a good splashy signing for this new era in the company.
