Stephanie Vaquer is reportedly on her way back to WWE television, because PWInsider reports that the former Women’s World Champion is expected back on screen soon.

The update is a change from what had been reported in the weeks since Vaquer’s injury was confirmed. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select previously reported that Vaquer was on the shelf for the foreseeable future, with no widely known return timetable within the company, and internal rumblings pointed to a minimum six-week absence, with optimism but no guarantee she would be back for SummerSlam.

Vaquer’s injury was confirmed as legitimate by Bryan Alvarez following a Raw angle in which Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, acting alongside Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan, attacked Vaquer backstage. Perez rammed an equipment box into Vaquer’s shoulder during the segment, with Michael Cole announcing on commentary that she had suffered a second-degree AC sprain and would be out for a period of time.

The exact cause of the injury was never confirmed, leaving open the possibility that it predated the Raw angle and that the attack was used to write her off television in a way that could be addressed storyline-wise upon her return.

The timing of the injury made it difficult from a creative standpoint. Vaquer had just lost the Women’s World Championship to Morgan at WrestleMania 42 Night 1 in a match that Bodyslam reported was kept shorter than planned because both performers were already dealing with physical issues heading into the show.

A second-degree AC sprain — which involves a partial tear of the acromioclavicular ligament — typically requires several weeks to a few months of recovery depending on severity, making PWInsider‘s report of an imminent return a positive update for both Vaquer and the women’s division.
