While ranting about previous issues he had with WWE wrestler Ludwig Kaiser, Ric Flair hilariously did not know where Kaiser originates from or that he is still on the roster.
First, the back story. The 16-time world champion’s problems with the man now working under the moniker of El Grande Americano stem from an incident between Tiffany Stratton and his daughter Charlotte Flair last year. In the lead-up to their WrestleMania 41 title match, they had an infamous verbal clash on an episode of SmackDown.
During the segment, Stratton referred to Flair’s three failed marriages. Flair retorted by suggesting her opponent’s then-boyfriend, Kaiser, had been sending her direct messages on social media. A claim that Kaiser denied with a hilarious Shawn Michaels meme soon after.
During a Wednesday appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ric Flair called in and noted he was not invited to WrestleMania 41 and 42 this year after he threatened to “beat up” Kaiser over a social media comment he made about his daughter that the 76-year-old was not clear about.
“I threatened to beat up Tiffany Stratton’s husband last year, and I wasn’t allowed to go. A 24-year-old kid is being threatened by a 76-year-old man, and I can’t go to WrestleMania. Are you kidding me?” Flair said.
Beyond the idea of Flair at nearly 80 years old having any chance in a fight against Kaiser was the many things he got wrong in his rant. First, he claimed Kaiser was 24. He is actually 35. The WCW icon then said, “That English kid, he’s gonna go as far in wrestling as a gnat. He’ll be a fly on the wall in a year.” Flair clearly doesn’t know that Kaiser is German.
Flair then asked, “Where is he now? Is he even on the roster?” The wrestling great must not watch the WWE product much because he had no idea Kaiser had been playing the character for El Grande Americano for close to a year and has become extremely popular for his work in AAA.
It was one of several senior moments Ric Flair had as he ranted about WWE not “rolling out the red carpet” for him at WrestleMania weekend for his contributions to the industry. He also claimed Stratton was “not smart enough to have written” the line about his daughter’s divorces and that it was fed to her by someone in the company.
Yet, despite the lengthy rant and several targets, the WWE Hall of Famer suggested, “I’m not mad at anybody. I understand it’s politics now. It’s too much politics and not enough wrestling.”
