Dominik Mysterio has been having a tough time in WWE lately. He lost the Intercontinental Championship to John Cenaand things within The Judgment Day haven’t been smooth. And now he has drawn attention from outside the company. One of MMA’s top names is looking his way.
Michael Chandler is figuring out his next move in MMA and has his sights set on Dominik. In an interview with Brian Mazique, he made it loud and clear that if he ever goes to WWE, Dirty Dom is the guy he wants. And he did it the right way by bringing up his “deadbeat dad” legend, Rey Mysterio:
“I see the Rey Mysterio or the Lucha Libre mask back there. I got a bone to pick with Dominik Mysterio. Cut him in half. They’re going to have to cut off that greasy, greasy hair of his, too.”
The timing is interesting. Chandler’s coming off a difficult stretch in the UFC, after a TKO loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 in April, which landed him a brief medical suspension, and he’s been without a win since 2022.
With no fights booked and the long-talked-about Conor McGregor matchup still up in the air, he’s been more open about looking outside the octagon. WWE, with its love for big, buzz-worthy moments, makes sense.

Over the past year, three-time Bellator Lightweight World Champion has been leaning into the entertainment side of MMA and even admitted he sometimes feels like “an entertainer masquerading as a fighter”. Going after Dominik Mysterio fits that perfectly. He’s one of WWE’s most polarizing heels, and right now his character is already unstable, so the timing is just right.
Dirty Dom thrives as the guy who takes heat from outsiders and authority figures, so he’s the perfect target. And it doesn’t even have to be a full match. A backstage confrontation, a promo face-off, or a one-night special-enforcer role could do all the heavy lifting.
Dominik’s interesting because he’s not afraid to push the boundaries, try new things, and take risks that most second-generation wrestlers wouldn’t. He’s created a character that thrives on provocation and unpredictability, and he’s open to almost anything — funny, chaotic, or just completely out of the box.
After the last RAW episode’s ringside altercation with comedian Andrew Schulz and New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo (along with other Giants players), Michael Chandler targeting Dominik doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
