John Cena has revealed who he thinks will win the WrestleMania 42 main event matches of Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns.
WrestleMania 42 is finally here, and the two-night extravaganza taking place this weekend features a pair of huge main event matches. On Saturday night, Rhodes will defend the WWE Undisputed title against his former mentor and now rival, Orton. On Sunday, Punk will take on the challenge of 11-time WrestleMania main eventer Reigns.
WWE GOAT John Cena has a history with all four men. Orton and Punk are two of his greatest rivals ever. While Reigns and Rhodes faced the icon later in his career, when he was looking to pass the torch to the next faces of the company.
That is why Sports Illustrated asked to get his picks for both matches before he hosts both nights of WrestleMania 42 this weekend. First, Rhodes vs. Orton.
John Cena Picks Randy Orton and Roman Reigns to Win at WrestleMania 42

“I can’t bet against Randy Orton,” Cena said. “I’ve known both of them for so long. And I’ve been in a similar position as a mentor for Cody, a teacher, somebody Cody wanted approval from. I just think Randy’s got something to prove. I know what it feels like to say I want 17 and I’ll do anything to get it. Cody was the guy I took it from. Randy’s got that vibe.
During his retirement tour last year, Cena faced Punk one last time, and both admitted the other is their “wrestling soulmate.” However, that didn’t deter Cena from going with the main set to be in the main event of WrestleMania for the 11th time this Sunday.
“It’s tough to bet against [Reigns]. When the lights are on in prime time, he has become the man,” said Cena. “Phil’s my wrestling soulmate. I think you’re going to see one hell of a performance, but it’s tough to bet against Use.”
