As he nears the end of his WWE career, some fascinating opinions, news, and rumors about John Cena have emerged this week.
On Monday night, Cena checked another date left off his retirement tour, and now WWE fans will only get to see the iconic wrestler compete in the ring two more times. Later this month at Survivor Series, and in December for his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
In the lead-up to his final two appearances, he has also been doing more interviews, including late on Monday night for the latest edition of RAW recap. During the in-depth conversation, the “Unseen 17” was asked about the surprise return of former WWE star Zack Ryder during Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
The wrestling legend revealed that the one-time Intercontinental Champion is a good friend, and he was thrilled to see him show up on main roster WWE content after years away.
“I was very, very glad to see Zack Ryder come back. Matt is a personal friend of mine,” Cena said. “I can speak candidly like that. And I’ve seen his mind grow. You want to talk about always being curious and a quest for growth. He has accrued so much sports entertainment wisdom… It’s amazing when we have interactions. He’ll tell me about his journey and be like, ‘This is what you were trying to talk about before, and I wasn’t ready to understand it.’”
Reports suggest Ryder’s return will be a one-off.
John Cena sees himself in Dominik Mysterio?

One of the big stories that came out of Monday’s RAW is that Cena will defend his recently won Intercontinental title at Survivor Series against the man he took the title away from a week ago, Dominik Mysterio.
The young star came up during his RAW recap interview, and Cena heaped a lot of praise on the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and offered up a fascinating comparison.
“He reminds me a lot of me, and he reminds me a lot of the mistakes I made,” he said. “Like, I can see all of the mistakes that are about to happen with him, and I want to shake him and be like, ‘You’re going to do this.’ But I want him to learn for himself. He is authentic. He’s reliable. He works hard, and he’s passionate about the business.”
John Cena ‘very high’ on NXT star Je’Von Evans

This month, the 17-time world champion made a rare visit to the WWE Performance Center to impart some wisdom on the deep roster of young and veteran talent the brand has. That appearance reportedly led him to request a card full of main roster vs. NXT talent for his final event.
Well, it seems that while there, one particular talent made a huge impression on the WWE icon. “I was also told that he went down to developmental and everything, and apparently he’s very, very high on Je’Von,” Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reports. “Sheamus had a match with him at a house show, and Sheamus was raving about him.”
Evans vs. Gunther, unsurprisingly, was the show-stealing match of this week’s RAW as the pair faced off in Round 1 of the “Last Time is Now Tournament.”
