In a hilarious moment on Friday, retired WWE icon John Cena made a shocking in-ring “return” at an independent event. However, it isn’t what you are thinking.

In December, Cena’s incomparable career came to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event. While the finish to his final match enraged some fans, it was nonetheless the final chapter in a year-long retirement tour that left them with many memorable moments.

During interviews promoting some of his final matches, Cena was often asked about the possibility of returning in the future. Since so many wrestling legends go back on their retirements, sometimes multiple times. However, the 17-time world champion consistently made it clear this is it for him. Or maybe not.

On Saturday, at a Pro Wrestling EVE event, something unexpected happened. During a mock WWE Royal Rumble for the all-women’s English promotion, the “Unseen 17s” music began to play. The camera focused on the entrance curtain, and it surprisingly flew open to unveil John Cena, sort of.

The individual who came through the curtain was invisible. However, that doesn’t mean they didn’t make an impact. “Cena” entered the ring and ended up clearing it, including a pair of performers dressed up like Shawn Michaels and Triple H in DX gear.

John Cena built a career telling foes and fans that they “can’t see him.” Well, fans at the Pro Wrestling Eve event couldn’t either, but the WWE legend still made a hilarious impact anyway.
