WWE is reportedly targeting John Cena to serve as the inductor for AJ Styles at the 2026 Hall of Fame ceremony. According to BodySlam.net, WWE officials view Cena as the ideal choice to honor his long-time rival and close friend, provided his Hollywood schedule allows for the appearance.
The induction announcement took place during the February 23, 2026, edition of Monday Night Raw in Atlanta, Georgia—a special tribute episode dedicated to the career of the “Phenomenal One”. In his home state, Styles delivered an emotional retirement speech before symbolically laying his gloves and jacket in the center of the ring. The ceremony took a dramatic turn when the arena went dark, and The Undertaker made a surprise entrance on his motorcycle.
While initially teasing “unfinished business” following their Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36, “The Deadman” broke character to inform Styles he would be the second inductee into the 2026 Hall of Fame class. Styles joins Stephanie McMahon as the only confirmed names for the ceremony thus far.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that the announcement was a genuine surprise to Styles, who appeared visibly apprehensive when the lights first went out.
The Hall of Fame confirmation appears to have put to rest lingering speculation about Styles’ in-ring future. Following his loss to Gunther at the 2026 Royal Rumble, Styles pointedly refrained from leaving his gear in the ring, sparking rumors that he might pursue a final run in other promotions like NJPW or TNA.
WWE has gone to great lengths to describe the Rumble loss as the end of his “WWE career,” specifically leaving the door open for other ventures.
However, the definitive nature of the Atlanta tribute, coupled with the Hall of Fame nod, indicates that Styles is officially endinghis time as an active competitor. Several legends from Styles’ past in TNA—including Abyss, The Good Brothers, and Frankie Kazarian—were present for the broadcast to honor his career.
