In a new interview, wrestling legend Ric Flair offered up a stunning reason behind Hulk Hogan’s passing in July.

In the summer, the wrestling world lost one of the most influential performers in the history of the industry when multi-time WWE and WCW champion Hulk Hogan passed away following a cardiac arrest. His death followed rumors about serious health issues and setbacks following a recent surgery on his neck.

In the months since, there has been a lot of speculation about what led to his death. However, this week, fellow wrestling icon Ric Flair offered up a disturbing cause of Hogan’s sudden passing. The use of street drugs to deal with severe pain after he had difficulty receiving prescription drugs to address the issue.

“I talked to him the day before he died. I shouldn’t say this, but what killed him was street drugs,” Flair told the Doubl3 Coverage Podcast. “When the doctor wouldn’t prescribe anymore, he was in so much pain. Then he had neck surgery and got infected.

“So back in the hospital—imagine 10 back surgeries, two knees, two hips, all this. And then when the doctor would not prescribe any more pain medicine, they just couldn’t do it. So they went and got the drugs off the street,” he added. “His body just said, ‘You know what? Bingo. I can’t do it anymore.’”

Flair has been friends with “The Immortal One” for decades. So it is very possible he did talk to the WWE Hall of Famer before he died earlier this year. However, the 76-year-old has been known to say very bold things in recent years, and his comment could be just as much speculation based on other things he heard from the wrestling legend.
