Former WWE NXT star Gigi Dolin is trying to rebuild her value on the independent wrestling scene following her release from the company last year. And it includes being in some pretty hardcore intergender match-ups.
Dolin made a solid name for herself on the independent scene during the early years of her career. It is why she landed a developmental contract with WWE back in 2021. During her four years in the company, the wrestler once known as Priscilla Kelly became a fan favorite and was a two-time NXT women’s tag champion with Jacy Jayne.
However, while she had her supporters, she did not evolve in the way that decision-makers were looking for, and she was among a round of roster cuts in May. In an effort to make a go of it outside the No. 1 company in the industry, Dolin has returned to her roots by going back to her previous name and taking part in some very hard-hitting matches.
The latest example came at a recent event for the fast-growing indie company Game Changer Wrestling (GCW). The one-time WWE talent was recently in a match with company star Atticus Cogar, who is actually a male wrestler.
Outside WWE and AEW, intergender matches where men face women are far more common, and the pair of wrestlers tore into each other during their recent clash. That includes a viral moment that the company posted video of this week, which sees Cogar jab the NXT veteran with skewers in her forehead.
The moment can be viewed above, and it is not for the faint of heart as Cogar gets some “color” out of Dolan with the skewers. However, just some blood-letting is not where it ends. He goes on to take a handful of the wooden stakes and jams them into both sides of her head. Creating a visual that looks like something out of a horror film.
It is a wild moment for fans unfamiliar with the company. However, GCW has grown its brand by pushing the envelope and leaning toward more hardcore action than companies like WWE or TNA showcase in their matchess
