A new rumor about previous plans for Finn Balor and Judgment Day seems to open the door to the return of “The Demon” at WrestleMania 42.
On this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW, Balor’s memorable run in Judgment Day came to an end. Issues between him and faction brother Dominik Mysterio have been brewing for months. Unfortunately for the Irishman, he had no true allies in the group, and long-time friend JD McDonaugh aligned with Mysterio and beat Balor out of the group.
Yet, it seems WWE creative had seriously considered having this moment happen months ago. According to Wrestling Observer, the company was targeting a clash between Balor and Mysterio for the 2025 edition of SummerSlam. However, they decided against it because they felt the faction was still hot and wanted to squeeze some more fun moments out of the current group.
Could ‘The Demon’ return at WrestleMania 42?

Now, it looks like the two will likely face off at next month’s WrestleMania 42 card, and it may include the return of Finn Balor’s alter ego. According to the Observer report, WWE was planning to include the return of “The Demon” as part of the SummerSlam match.
Balor’s alter ego, which first appeared in NJPW, has been a topic of discussion in different interviews in recent months. The one-time universal champion admitted in one of those conversations that he did not like how the company used the character, and preferred it to be used sparingly and more as a surprise.
With Balor expected to finally turn back to being a baby face before or after WrestleMania 42, having “The Demon” be a part of his character rebirth makes sense and would be a fun addition to the event.
