Could AEW fan-favorite Danhausen be headed to WWE early next year? A new report says yes, and no.
The pro wrestling industry is as strong as it’s been in a very long time. WWE is doing its best numbers during this decade, and AEW has become a legitimate No. 2 company in the industry and is handing out big contracts. It gives talent some leverage, as well as major options if they have something unique to offer.
Comedy wrestler Danhausen definitely fits in the category of being a performer who brings something different to the table. He isn’t an elite wrestler or a powerhouse. However, his unique delivery and face paint make him stand out as he can get laughs from fans in a way that many of his contemporaries can’t. He has qualities that a company like WWE would seemingly like.
It is why, when rumors emerged earlier this year that he could hit free agency in the next few months, he was linked to a potential jump to WWE. This week, a new rumor claimed the man known for saying “Very nice, very evil” would be free to leave AEW in February after they haven’t used him much over the last year. It now sets up a move to WWE early next year.
However, it is far from a guarantee, even though he has fans in the company, according to a new report from Fightful.
“I know people there want him to come over,” Wrestle Votes mentioned in a new Fightful Q&A. “… But I know people there that aren’t so keen on him and his talents. So I don’t know where they’re going to stand when it’s time for him to come as a free agent. I’m sure there’ll be an offer.
“He’s talented, people like him, he’s over. I could see them making an offer, but I know some people there maybe just don’t get it, and that’s fair. We’ll see, I don’t think it’s a done deal yet.”
