CM Punk‘s WrestleMania 42 weekend did not end cleanly in the ring, and what followed in the early hours after the show made for an even rougher night.
According to footage obtained by TMZ, Punk got into a confrontation with a fan at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino just after midnight, hours after losing to Roman Reigns in the Night Two main event at Allegiant Stadium.
The incident began when a fan was filming Bayley while she was hugging someone in the hotel lobby. Punk stepped in and knocked the fan’s phone down. Ace Steel was also present and attempted to keep the situation from escalating further as security rushed over to separate everyone involved. The fan, who appeared visibly upset in the immediate aftermath, quickly backed off and apologized multiple times before leaving the area.
The confrontation did not escalate into a physical altercation, but the tension in the footage was clear. Punk had already been seen backstage at Allegiant Stadium looking worn down following his loss to Reigns, openly admitting that the defeat had hit him hard. The hotel incident added another difficult chapter to what was already a disappointing night for the World Heavyweight Championship challenger.
Whether Punk will face any consequences from WWE over the incident has not been addressed publicly. The footage is now circulating widely after being published by TMZ. WWE has yet to confirm Punk’s status for tonight’s episode of Raw.
Considering this is the fallout edition of the show for WrestleMania, it would be expected for Punk to be on the show. Here, WWE fans will figure out where Punk will go moving forward without the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk could go in two different directions – going after Reigns and the World Title for a rematch or moving into a new program ahead of Backlash next month.
