Top seed Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan held off Dalma Galfi of Hungary 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 on Saturday to reach the final of the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.
Putintseva overcame seven double faults by fending off three of four break points she faced against Galfi.
On Sunday, she’ll face the winner of the other semifinal, the Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina. Kalinina’s opponent, No. 2 seed Danielle Collins of the U.S., was forced to retire after losing 7-6 (5) in the first set and falling behind 4-1 in the second.
Livesport Prague Open
No. 2 seed Barbora Krejcikova continued her strong run with a 6-1, 6-2 win over China’s Xinyu Wang to reach the final in the Czech Republic.
Krejcikova, who hasn’t dropped a set this week, fended off the only break point she faced vs. Wang and won 84 percent of her first serves.
In the other semifinal, No. 8 seed Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic held off No. 9 Greet Minnen of Belgium 6-3, 6-4.
Martincova owns a 2-1 edge over Krejcikova in head-to-head play.
Ladies Open Lausanne
No. 1 seed Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia outlasted Maryna Zanevska of Belgium 7-5, 6-3 to reach the final in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Zidansek converted five of nine break points and had two aces in the victory.
In the other semifinal, Clara Burel stunned No. 5 seed Caroline Garcia 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in an all-French affair. Garcia faced 17 break points, but only managed to stop nine of them.
