Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever got to enjoy an extended Memorial Day weekend this season. Indiana’s last game against the Golden State Valkyries was on Friday, giving them several days off in a row.

That gave Clark the opportunity to participate in one of the city’s iconic sports traditions this year. The Fever superstar was tapped as the grand marshal at the Indy 500 this year. One clip on social media even shows how she hilariously prepared for her big moment.

Clark’s teammate, Lexie Hull, shared some clips on TikTok of her preparing for grand marshal duties. In the clip, Hull asks Clark what she is going to say to drivers just before the race.

“Drivers, then pause, to your cars!” Clark announced with a hilarious flourish. She also tested a different version to say, including “to your cars, cars now!”

This moment was a long time coming for Caitlin Clark. She had previously been invited to be the grand marshal at the storied event, but scheduling conflicts always kept her from participating.

For the first two years of Clark’s WNBA career, the Indiana Fever played games during the Indy 500 each time.

But now was the perfect time for the Fever to have an extended break. Indiana is already 4-2 on the season and riding a three-game winning streak, the longest streak among any WNBA team at the moment.

Hopefully the Fever come back from their long weekend rested and ready to keep stacking wins once again. They will resume the season with a road game against the Valkyries on Thursday night at 10 P.M. ET.
