The New York Yankees acquired Edwin Encarnacion with the hopes he’d provide another stunning power bat to their loaded lineup. After struggling early, the 36-year-old showed just what he is capable of on Friday night with a stunning swing.

As the Yankees trailed 2-0 against the Colorado Rockies, Encarnacion stood in the box with the bases loaded and needed just one arm to change the game. He got the baseball just where he wanted it and unleashed on it with a one-handed swing for a grand slam.

While Yankee Stadium is certainly friendly to hitters, this type of powerful swing with basically one arm speaks to Encarnacion’s strength. New York’s fans might not be seeing it a lot right now, but perhaps this could be the swing that wakes up his bat.

If Encarnacion can get going on one of his hot streaks, this lineup is going to become even more dangerous and cause nightmares for opposing pitchers the night before they face New York.
