The Wake Forest Demon Deacons got a huge game out of wide receiver Greg Dortch on Saturday.
First, it was a one-handed touchdown catch. Then, after returning one punt 70 yards for a touchdown, Dortch made even more jaws drop on his next big play.
Late in the second quarter, the sophomore caught a punt at Wake Forest’s 40-yard line, burst through a hole then ripped the soul out of two Towson Tigers players with two beautiful moves to evade the defenders and then found the end zone.
It was a memorable performance for Dortch. He was a focal point of the passing game with a team-high seven receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown, while also providing two big plays on special teams.
The Demon Deacons discovered gold in Dortch and he is quickly rewarding them with big plays. After scoring nine touchdowns as a freshman, he is well on his way to an even bigger season as a sophomore.
