WATCH: Virginia Tech WR Damon Hazelton scorches Duke’s secondary for easy 72-yard TD

After struggling to create any explosive plays throughout the night, Virginia Tech Hokies wide receiver Damon Hazelton came through with the biggest play of the night.

Hazelton immediately slipped by the Duke Blue Devils cornerback off the snap and let his speed do the rest as he ran uncovered down the field. He made the throw easy for quarterback Ryan Willis. Hazelton then slipped out of a defender’s grab at his ankles and went the distance for the 72-yard score.

The Hokies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead against Duke before the offense fell apart and turnovers became more routine than big plays. Perhaps this will be the spark Virginia Tech needs to climb back into the game and get the home crowd excited again.
