WATCH: Tony Pollard ties NCAA record on 97-yard kickoff return TD

Since he stepped foot onto the field for the Memphis Tigers, junior wide receiver Tony Pollard has been an explosive return man. He demonstrated that on Saturday in the Birmingham Bowl with a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown, which tied an NCAA record.

Midway through the second quarter after Wake Forest drilled a field goal to cut Memphis’ lead to 21-10, Pollard answered immediately with the explosiveness everyone has grown used to over the years.

Pollard’s 98-yard kickoff return touchdown helped him become just the fourth player in NCAA history to return seven kickoffs for a touchdown in their respective careers. The junior joins C.J. Spiller, Rashaad Penny and Tyron Carrier atop the NCAA leaderboard.

There’s still time left in this game for Pollard to take his shot at NCAA history. One thing is for certain, his talents are going to draw plenty of attention from NFL teams.
