Late in a tie game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Tennessee Titans desperately needed a big play to stay in the playoff hunt. Tennessee’s special-teams unit provided it with a game-changing blocked field goal returned for a touchdown.
Titans cornerback Dane Cruikshank broke through off the edge with perfect timing to leap into the block. Adam Vinatieri’s kick bounced off Cruikshank, then cornerback Tye Smith scooped it up and returned it for the 63-yard, go-ahead touchdown.
The Titans have been rolling as of late, especially since making a change at quarterback, with four wins in their past five games. Now sitting on the verge of another win, Tennessee could shape up to be a dangerous team in December.
