WATCH: SWAT team raids home of former NFL receiver

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess (15) reacts after missing a pass during the second half of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

Former NFL receiver Davone Bess found himself in hot water in Arizona last month when he decided to flee from cops after a routine traffic stop.

After leading the authorities on a chase that culminated in the Bess barricading himself in his home, the former NFL player then threatened to shoot the cops.

At this point, the SWAT team was called to his house. Yes, you read that right. A total of 27 police officers took part in the raid. And it was all caught on video (via TMZ).

That’s some pretty dramatic stuff right there.

Per the TMZ report:

“After he was taken into custody, Bess demanded a hamburger and KY jelly … fell asleep while being questioned by officers … and eventually explained that he initially fled from cops because he was searching for peace.”

Um, okay.

The former NFL receiver was ultimately subdued by a police dog without suffering any serious injuries.

Bess was eventually charged (and later plead not guilty) to charges of unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle. He faces two years in prison if convicted.

Bess, a former Hawaii standout, played six seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns. His best performance came back in 2010 with Miami when he recorded 79 receptions for 820 yards and five scores.
