WATCH: Steelers’ would-be TD turns into touchback for Broncos

On the verge of a go-ahead touchdown in a huge road game against the Denver Broncos, disaster struck for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tight end Xavier Grimble neared the end zone, then got the ball knocked out at the goal line and it resulted in a touchback.

A methodical drive for the Steelers with a chance to steal back some momentum on the first play of the second quarter instead quickly turned into a disaster. It flipped the script on the game and gave the Broncos a chance to take a two-score lead.

The play is eerily similar to what happened to fellow tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins in 2017 and will only lead to more calls from some fans to eliminate this element of the touchback rule.
