Former Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has put her name in the history books. Performing at the Kingston Meeting in her native Kingston, Jamaica, Fraser-Pryce ran a 10.63 in the 100 meters to become the fourth woman to ever run a sub 10.7 in the 100m.

The time is the fourth-fastest in history behind Florence Griffith-Joyner who ran a 10.49, 10.61 and 10.62 (Olympic record) in 1988.

Fraser-Pryce, 34, now holds the fastest time by a Jamaican athlete. Her new personal record beats out reigning Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, who ran a 10.7 in 2016.

Fraser-Pryce is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of track & field. In her career, she has won 17 gold medals including two in the Olympics in the 100m.

This year’s summer Olympics will be her last as she has announced her intentions to retire following the 2022 World Athletics Championships. She is seeking to become the first woman and the second athlete overall to ever win three Olympic gold medals in the 100m (Usain Bolt).

Should Fraser-Pryce come away with Olympic gold in the 100, she will become the first woman since Fanny Blankers-Koen to do so at 30-years-old or older.
