New York Jets rookie Sam Darnold has his first career touchdown pass. He threw it on Monday night against the Detroit Lions, with Robby Anderson hauling in the 41-yard reception.

The touchdown and ensuing PAT gave the Jets a 17-7 lead over the Lions.

Darnold’s first start has been anything but smooth. The touchdown redeemed his first interception (a pick-six, no less), which came on the first play of his NFL career.

If nothing else, fans in New York can be encouraged by how well the young quarterback bounced back.
