WATCH: Rockies’ Ian Desmond crushes 472-foot home run

Colorado Rockies first baseman Ian Desmond has been known to get a hold of a baseball at times and hit home runs. On Wednesday, he took that to a whole new level with a monster blast.

In the first inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Desmond drilled a 472-foot blast deep into the bleachers at Coors Field. The home run, his 18th of the season, exploded off the bat at 110.4 mph.

It’s been that kind of season for the 32-year-old, who is currently on pace for the first 30-plus homer season of his career. While he doesn’t make a lot of contact, as seen in his .220 batting average, he can hit it a long way when he does.
