WATCH: Rhys Hoskins’ face smashes into wall during ugly collision

Sometimes a collision with the outfield fence can leave a player a little banged up. They hit their knee or shoulder and it stings, but recover quickly. When a player’s face smashes into a wall, that’s a whole different thing.

During the third inning of Tuesday’s game against the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Rhys Hoskins crashed into the wall in a full sprint. Even worse for Hoskins, his face took a big part of the collision.

Fortunately, Hoskins seemed to avoided any significant injury. Within seconds of a trainer’s arrival, the 25-year-old outfielder sent the trainer back and was able to stay in the game.

This hasn’t been a good year for Hoskins’ face. Earlier this year he fouled a ball off that struck him in the face and landed him on the disabled list with a fractured jaw. Let’s hope he is able to protect it more in the future.
