Tampa Bay Rays veteran catcher Travis d’Arnaud is not necessarily known for his power. That’s changed a tad this season with d’Arnaud belting 12 homers in 49 games for the Rays.
We can ask Boston Red Sox starter David Price all about this. Dominating Tampa’s bats to the tune of eight strikeouts in four-plus innings Tuesday night, Price took to the fifth with a 3-1 lead.
That’s when d’Arnaud jacked a Price offering 454 feet to left field, clearing the Green Monster and landing on Lansdowne Street. Yes, completely out of Fenway Park.
This has been somewhat of a common theme during a 2019 season that has seen the long ball hit at a record clip thus far.
That doesn’t make the accomplishment any less amazing, especially given that this ball traveled 453 feet with an exit velocity of 107 mph. Can you say bomb?
