For a guy that signed a minor league contract after bombing out with the San Francisco Giants over the past couple years, Hunter Pence is doing his thing in Arlington.
The hometown boy entered Tuesday’s action against the Boston Red Sox hitting .282 with 13 homers, 41 RBI and a .902 OPS in 50 games for the Texas Rangers.
Now 36 years old, Pence just added something else to his resume. The former All-Star hit a two-run inside-the park homer against Red Sox reliever Bobby Poyner in the sixth inning.
The play has to be seen to be believed.
Never mind. We still don’t believe it. This would have been a double or medium-range out even at minor league parks around the nation. But that Pesky’s Pole sure was pesky to Sox right fielder Brock Holt.
With all of 15 stolen bases over the past five seasons, Pence had already crossed home plate before the ball was picked up from the outfield dirt.
What an absolutely insane play right here.
