San Diego Padres pitcher Chris Paddack has been absolutely dominant in his first MLB season, pitching to a 1.91 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in six starts.
Follow star rookie Pete Alonso and the New York Mets found that out first hand Monday night. Paddack was absolutely filthy from the get, striking out eight in the first four innings.
That included this absurd two-pitch sequence that resulted in Alonso’s second strikeout of the game. Paddack started with the hook and finished Alonso off with the heater.
The always boisterous Paddack was pretty darn pumped up after this K.
It’s great to see pitchers have fun on the bump. While he’s a sure-fire Rookie of the Year candidate, Paddack is pitching like a real Cy Young candidate.
This sequence represents that to a T.
