As LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow proves why he’s the present force at quarterback in the SEC, Ole Miss Rebels freshman quarterback John Rhys Plumlee is quickly making his case as the future face of the conference.
The Tigers started running into issues with Plumlee’s speed early and things only got worse in the second half. After gashing the Tigers’ defense for a 46-yard touchdown to open the third quarter, Plumlee made the entire defense look foolish on a 60-yard touchdown run.
The freshman’s ability alone to slip out of the tackle in the backfield is impressive. He then sprinted upfield and split a tiny gap between three defenders before leaving clouds of dust behind him on his way to the end zone.
It’s Plumlee’s fifth 100-plus yard game this season and it’s a near certainty that even more are coming in the weeks and years to come.
