Many expected the Oklahoma Sooners to walk all over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday night. Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts proved why by burning the Bruins’ defense for a 30-yard touchdown.
Hurts and the Sooners’ offense seemed to stall at UCLA’s 30-yard line. Instead of playing it safe with a field-goal attempt, head coach Lincoln Riley called on Hurts to use his legs and it paid off with a gorgeous touchdown run.
Hurts cut through UCLA’s front seven like a hot knife cuts through butter. Once he found the open space, he hit the jets and ran untouched into the end zone for Oklahoma’s first touchdown of the game.
Hurts came to Oklahoma hoping to be its third consecutive Heisman Trophy winner. He’s well on his way to accomplishing that with a monster start to the season and a great first drive on Saturday.
