Anthony Brown completed 23 of 28 passes for 275 yards and rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, and No. 11 Oregon bounced back from a blowout loss at Utah last week to defeat in-state rival Oregon State 38-29 and advance to the Pac-12 championship game for the third straight season.
Travis Dye added 138 all-purpose yards, 99 on the ground, and the second of his two touchdowns that came with 3:14 to play sealed Oregon’s win. The Ducks (10-2, 7-2 Pac-12) clinched the Pac-12 North Division title, scoring on all four drives in the first half to set the tone for a victorious afternoon at home in Eugene, Oregon’s Autzen Stadium.
Oregon State (7-5, 5-4 Pac-12) could have won the division for Washington State had the Beavers pulled off the upset, but came up short. They rallied with 26 second half points but failed on three two-point conversion attempts.
Quarterback Chance Nolan completed 25 of 39 passes for 308 yards and two scores, and conference rushing leader B.J. Baylor had a rushing touchdown and 59 yards.
Brown, in his first full season as Oregon’s starting quarterback and in his final year of eligibility, threw for a touchdown and ran for another in the first half as the Ducks racked up 307 yard of total offense before halftime. Dye ran 20 yards for a touchdown on fourth-and-1 on the Ducks’ opening possession.
Brown hit Devon Williams for a 50-yard touchdown play to make it 14-0. Williams had five catches for 105 yards in the first half.
After both teams exchanged field goals to give Oregon a 17-3 lead, the Ducks’ defense forced a punt, and the Brown led his team down the field. He dived and stretched the ball over the goal line for a touchdown with 35 seconds left until halftime, and Oregon led 24-3 at the break.
The Beavers rallied from a 31-9 deficit to make it 31-21 with 8:28 left in the game. After Baylor’s four-yard touchdown run, Oregon State recovered an onside kick and scored on Nolan’s touchdown pass to Trevon Bradford.
But Dye scored from a yard out to give Oregon a 17-point lead.
