Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto seems to love the big moments. After drilling the game-winning hit in the wild-card game, the 20-year-old got Nationals Stadium rocking on Sunday with a two-run blast in the first inning.
Soto stepped into the batter’s box facing Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, a Cy Young contender who rarely gives up big hits. Washington’s outfield phenom watched a 91-mph fastball come in and sent it screaming out of the yard for a monster blast.
It seems unbelievable that a 20-year-old is doing this in the postseason. While so many of his 20-year-old peers are relaxing this month after a great season in the minors, Soto is becoming a star in Washington and pushing this team towards a playoff upset few saw coming.
