WATCH: Mountaineers fool Blue Raiders on two trick-play TDs

The New Orleans Bowl between Middle Tennessee and Appalachian State wasn’t much fun to watch in the first quarter. Then, early in the second half the Mountaineers wowed with a trick-play touchdown pass to break a 3-3 tie.

Check out the double pass here that absolutely fooled the Blue Raiders.

What made this play even more stunning is that it came on the heels of Middle Tennessee attempting, and failing, a fake punt on fourth down from their own side of the field.

After starting out in a three-point hole, this score gave Appalachian State a seven-point lead, 10-3, with just over 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Shortly afterward, after another Middle Tennessee turnover, Appalachian State struck again with its version of the Philly Special.
