The return of professional team sports in the United States amid the ongoing pandemic is finally here. Major League Soccer has returned to Walt Disney World in Orlando for a tournament to decide this season’s champion.

The backdrop here is obviously the racial tensions boiling over in the United States following the murder of George Floyd by a then Minneapolis police officer back on May 25.

In taking to the field for the first night of action in Orlando, MLS players could be seen raising their fists during the national anthem while wearing Black Lives Matter shirts.

It was a sight to behold, as evidenced by the photos and videos from Orlando.

This is something we will likely see repeat itself with the MLB season starting on July 23 and the NBA season resuming the following week.

Heck, we’re already seeing it around the Major League Baseball world during workouts.
