WATCH: Military Bowl mascot race is even wilder than you think

While the College Football Playoff gets all of the attention and many are excited for Saturday’s Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, the Military Bowl provided something for everyone to enjoy on Friday – a mascot race that came with big hits.

During a break in Friday’s bowl action between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Temple Owls, several mascots took the field for an equally hilarious and absurd 100-yard race. It didn’t take long before the race became a contact sport.

The winner of the race doesn’t even get the attention in this, which has to be disappointing for the person that ran 100 yards in the oversized suit. Instead, North Carolina’s mascot duo used the race to take down as many of the competitors as possible.

We have to give credit to the Theodore Roosevelt mascot here. By hanging back for a few seconds, he avoided the Tar Heels’ rams on their mission to destroy everything in front of them. Honestly, they might have done a good enough job that Mack Brown might need to allow them to try out for North Carolina’s football team next season.
