Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford entered Sunday’s game needing 87 yards to reach 40,000 for his career. It didn’t take him long.
Stafford completed a 36-yard pass to Danny Amendola in the first quarter. In doing so, he not only exceeded 40,000 career passing yards, but reached the milestone faster than any quarterback in NFL history.
This was Stafford’s 147th career game. He broke the record of Matt Ryan, who exceeded 40,000 yards in 151 games.
In addition to reaching 40,000 yards in the fewest games, Stafford also become the youngest quarterback to reach the milestone.
