WATCH: Kyler Murray fumbled while trying to hold himself up with the ball

Just when Kyler Murray and the Oklahoma Sooners appeared to be clawing their way back into the Red River Showdown against Texas, the Heisman candidate engineered a nightmare-fuel faux pas.

Murray had just gotten Oklahoma within a touchdown after throwing a perfect 77-yard touchdown pass to Hollywood Brown. Then, after the Oklahoma defense forced a punt, the offense had a chance to even up the score.

Then disaster struck.

Murray was scrambling around in the pocket trying to break free of pressure when he slipped. While he attempted to keep his balance, he used the football to try and keep his footing.

Big mistake.

That turnover was brutal. It was also very costly, as Sam Ehlinger ran in his third touchdown of the game shortly afterward to give the Longhorns a 14-point lead once again.
