The New York Knicks have clearly been frustrated during what has been yet another down season in the Big Apple.
That does not excuse what new Knicks forward Bobby Portis did in the first half of his team’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night.
Portis was ejected for making a ton of contact with Lakers wing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as the latter player was up in the air. It’s one of the dirtiest plays we’ve seen thus far this season.
As you can see, both LeBron James and Rajon Rondo had words for Portis before the Knicks forward was tossed from the game at the Staples Center.
This is unlikely to result in anything more than a fine for Portis. But it’s something the NBA should consider changing. Putting a vulnerable player like KCP in that situation is not acceptable. It’s just ugly.
