Houston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander has experienced some incredible moments in his career. He probably won’t consider his hilarious and painful gaffe in Game 2 of the World Series one of his best moments.
Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman hit a chopper to Verlander’s right. The All-Star pitcher made a diving stop then pulled his arm back to throw from the ground. Instead, Verlander’s fastball hit him right in the leg as they flew up from his continued motion.
Fortunately, Verlander proved to be alright after taking his own friendly fire. In a moment so fitting of his character, he immediately got up and laughed at his own wild moment on the diamond.
