WATCH: Jordan Hicks ends game with strikeout on 104-MPH sinker

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

St. Louis Cardinals closer Jordan Hicks was throwing straight fire Sunday in the ninth inning and closed out the game against the New York Mets with a sinker that hit 104 miles per hour on the radar gun.

This wasn’t the only pitch that hit that insane number, either. He was well above 100 throughout his save in the ninth, too.

Remarkably, Pete Alonso singled off a 102-mile-per-hour pitch earlier in the inning, marking the fastest pitch any Mets hitter had ever gotten a hit against in the pitch-tracking era (2008).
