Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts has proven this year that he can crush opposing defenses with his arm or his legs. When Oklahoma State’s defense took away his receivers, the senior thanked them with a smooth 28-yard touchdown run.

Oklahoma State’s defensive backs did an excellent job of taking away Hurts’ favorite receivers on first down with great man coverage. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, that left an open valley for Hurts to run through for the game’s opening touchdown.

It’s exactly why Oklahoma’s offense is so difficult to stop. Even great man coverage against the receivers leaves open space for Hurts to run. However, leaving defensive backs down to account for Hurts’ mobility then allows CeeDee Lamb to go deep.

After getting burned by Hurts’ legs, the Cowboys overcorrect and then get toasted by Lamb for a big play thanks to Hurts’ rocket arm.
