New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom won the NL Cy Young Award in 2018. From the looks of things, he’s going for a Silver Slugger in 2019.
deGrom helped his own cause against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, launching a home run off of Trevor Richards.
We don’t know if deGrom’s new contract has a clause in there rewarding him for offensive performance. If not, maybe he should renegotiate.
In all seriousness, the Mets ace isn’t exactly prone to surrendering many runs, especially via the long ball.
deGrom doesn’t generally need much run support to win games. If he’s supplying the runs, as well, he’ll be nearly impossible to beat.
