Shane Lowry 2019 The Open Championship
Ian Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports

For Shane Lowry, the walk up the 18th fairway to the green on the final hole of The Open Championship must have been like a dream come true.

With the victory in hand, Lowry, who became just the sixth Irishman to win The Open Championship, was treated to an incredible show of fan support at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Here’s a look at what was transpiring behind Lowry as he walked toward the green.

Fans loudly cheered and broke into a chant after Lowry hit his approach shot into the 18th green.

And when he poured in the final putt, it was more of the same.

Just an incredible scene we won’t forget any time soon. And one that will surely be a career highlight for Lowry, who at the age of 32 should have a few more of those in store.
