For the final time in his legendary career, Ichiro Suzuki walked off the field to thunderous applause as the crowd at the Tokyo Dome gave him a standing ovation that lasted for well over two minutes.
The 45-year-old legend exited Thursday night’s game in the eighth inning, waving to the crowd. His teammates embraced him, some with tears in their eyes.
It was an all-time exit.
It had been reported by Kyodo News earlier in the game that Ichiro would be calling it a career.
When it actually happened fans didn’t fail to send him off with a farewell nobody will soon forget.
