WATCH: Highly touted LSU LB Jabril Cox with pick-six in Tigers debut

The sixth-ranked LSU Tigers found themselves down 3-0 early in their season opener against Mississippi State on Saturday. For head coach Ed Orgeron and the defending champs, it is expected to be a season of transition now that Joe Burrow is tossing the rock in the NFL and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase opting out of the campaign.

Despite this, LSU was a heavy favorite heading into Saturday’s outing against new Bulldogs head coach Mike Leach and Co. That’s primarily because of a still-stingy defense led by top transfer, linebacker Jabril Cox.

Cox more than made his name known in his debut with the program, picking off new Mississippi State quarterback K.J. Costello and returning it 14 yards for a touchdown.

Some already view Cox, a transfer from North Dakota State, as a legit first-round prospect. Based on what we’ve seen Saturday in Baton Rouge, it is hard to argue against that.
