WATCH: Hakeem Butler wows with leaping one-handed catch

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Midway through the third quarter Friday night as Iowa State battled Washington State in the Valero Alamo Bowl, Cyclones receiver Hakeem Butler made everyone stop and say, “whoa.”

The dynamic receiver broke loose in the middle of the field when Brock Purdy unleashed a throw that really should have been way too high to haul in. That’s when Butler rose up and made a ridiculous one-handed catch.

Here’s a still at the high point, for emphasis.

Amazing.

Fans who’ve been keeping a close eye on Butler know this isn’t all that shocking, however, as he’s made the ridiculous look ridiculously easy all year long.

Despite taking a big shot to the groin in the first half and another awkward-looking hit to the legs in the third quarter, Butler continues to shine in this game. That catch was his eighth of the game for a total of 186 yards.
