WATCH: Graham Gano hits 63-yard game-winning FG to beat the Giants

The Carolina Panthers did everything possible to lose Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. Up 27-16 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Carolina let Eli Manning pull off what would have been an epic comeback.

None of that mattered. With his team down by one point and just six seconds left, the Panthers called on Graham Gano to attempt a 63-yard field goal.

Given that Gano’s previous career high was 54 yards, this was shocking decision from Ron Rivera and Co. Again, none of that mattered.

With ice water running through his veins, the 10-year veteran nailed the game-winning field goal with ease.

Not only was this a huge kick for the Panthers, it pretty much ended New York’s season. At 1-4 through five weeks, any playoff aspirations can be thrown out the window.

For their part, Gano’s kick enabled Carolina to move to 3-1 on the season.
