Georgia cornerback Rico McGraw was hurt on Saturday when a coach slapped him on the helmet in celebration. He had to leave the game as a result of concussion suffered in the celebratory gesture.

Given the growing understanding about the short- and long-term health detriments revolving around concussions, perhaps coaches and players should stop all the head-butting and helmet-slapping.
There are certainly other ways to celebrate a fine play that do not involve players’ heads. Let’s figure it out, guys.
