Houston Astros star George Springer did not waste any time getting his team on the board in the first game of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.
He took a four-seam fastball from White Sox starter Dylan Cease on the first pitch of the game 467 feet and over the left-field fence.
That was an absolute shot from Mr. Springer. Not only did it clear the fence by what seemed to be miles, the ball had an exit velocity of 111.3 mph.
This represented the 33rd lead-off homer of Springer’s still-young career. It also made us wonder whether Cease had his Starbucks before the doubleheader.
